Guénon.                                        \nDans une nuit de janvier 1951, René Guénon, cheikh Abdelwâhid Yahya en islam, s’éteignait au Caire, où il résidait depuis 1930.  Avec lui disparaissait le revivificateur de la pensée traditionnelle. Dans un Occident qui s’était détourné du christianisme pour se plonger corps et âme dans ce que l’islam appelle la « dunya », ce bas-monde, René Guénon rappela la véritable raison d’être de la condition humaine, celle de se réaliser spirituellement. À travers une œuvre impressionnante, il travailla à fournir les critères sûrs permettant de distinguer les voies spirituelles authentiques de celles qui en sont les contrefaçons. Bien que séparés par plusieurs siècles, leurs doctrines convergent autour d’une métaphysique universelle, d’une conception hiérarchisée de la réalité et d’une vision symbolique du monde. René Guénon puise chez Ibn ‘Arabî à la source majeure de la sagesse islamique et ésotérique pour l’intégrer dans sa critique du monde moderne et sa quête de la Tradition primordiale.\nAbdel Illah Benarafa mettra en lumière ces convergences, tout en soulignant les différences de contexte, de langage et de fonction spirituelle de chacune de ces deux personnalités spirituelles.\nAbdel Illah Benarafa est directeur général adjoint de l’ICESCO (Organisation du monde islamique pour l’éducation, les sciences et la culture) à Rabat (Maroc).
