Qui, parmi nos contemporains, sait que le génie prémoderne, arabe et musulman, Ibn Khaldûn (m. 1406) évoque la continuité de la longue chaîne de la vie allant des minéraux jusqu’aux humains ? Le soufi Ibn ‘Arabi (m. 1240) cite, parmi ses maîtres spirituels, des animaux (cheval, chat, abeille… et même le chien) et, pour lui, chaque espèce ou communauté animale compte en son sein des saints comme c’est le cas chez les humains !\nOmero Marongiu-Perria est docteur en sociologie (ethnicité, religion) de l’université de Lille I et chercheur associé à l’Institut de recherche sur le pluralisme religieux et l’athéisme (IPRA) de l’université de Nantes. Il a dirigé un ouvrage collectif, l’Islam et les animaux, qui analyse les apports théologiques, juridiques et mystiques sur le statut de l’animal au fil de l’histoire de la pensée musulmane. Ce livre explore également des sujets qui font souvent polémique : Une viande est-elle licite (halal) uniquement par la façon dont l’animal est mis à mort ?
